Recent studies showing a connection between grain-free diets and heart disease

There was an article dated 8/1/2018 in the AVMA Journal (American Veterinary Medical Association) that discusses the connection between dilated cardiomyopathy (an enlarged heart) and feeding your pet a grain free diet. We have found the FDA and our local Board Certified Veterinary Cardiologist concur with these findings. We have attached the link to the article for you and within the article is a link to the FDA to report if your pet has been diagnosed with cardiomyopathy while feeding a grain free diet. If you are currently feeding a grain free diet, please contact our office to schedule a consult for an alternative diet plan.

Please note: The only way to diagnosis an enlarged heart is by doing a cardiac ultrasound. We perform this advanced diagnostic imaging at our practice. Thank you and feel free to call us with any questions.
